CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA) – Mayor Rolando “Klarex” A. Uy underscored the pressing issue of misinformation spread across various platforms, especially social media.
During the 126th Independence Day celebration of the city, Uy emphasized the importance of learning from the past and reflecting on the lessons that inaccurate information has negatively impacted many lives and futures.
As such, he urged Kagay-anons to remember the sacrifices made by their ancestors in securing the freedom enjoyed today and to channel that same spirit into fighting against the spread of misinformation.
“Alang sa kagawasan sa atong mga anak ug sa anak sa atong mga anak, magbaton kita sa kaisog sa pagpatunhay ug pagpanalipod sa kamatuoran,” Uy said.
(Let us have the courage to uphold and protect the truth for the freedom of our children and their children.)
He further called on Kagay-anons to become more discerning information consumers and prioritize integrity and truthfulness. (APB/PIA-10)
