Cagayan Valley to host North Luzon DRRM convention

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (PIA) – The Cagayan Valley Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CVDRRMC), is set to host the North Luzon Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Convention at the Isabela Convention Center, Cauayan City, Isabela on March 26-27, 2025.

The event is organized in partnership with the Federation of Cagayan Valley Rescue Groups and the Cauayan City government.

Civil Defense Director Leon DG. Rafael Jr. emphasized that the convention aims to bring together local disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM) officers from local government units (LGUs) across Northern Luzon.

With the theme, “North Luzon: One Vision, One Goal, One DRRM Alliance,” Rafael highlighted that the event seeks to strengthen inter-regional collaboration in disaster prevention, mitigation, and response.

He said there is a growing need for cooperation to effectively manage inter-regional emergencies, where support and augmentation are vital.

“Over the years, Northern and Central Luzon have shared the impacts of various natural hazards, such as tropical cyclones, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and more. In addition to these, regional emergencies have shown the importance of mutual support and collaboration among neighboring regions,” Rafael said.

The convention is expected to draw more than 440 DRRM officers and representatives from the local government units of Regions 1, 2, 3, and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
