Calamity-affected MSMEs in Sablayan to receive livelihood booster from DTI

SAN JOSE, Occidental Mindoro (PIA) — Some 60 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro will receive assistance from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to boost their livelihood affected by calamities.

During the “Kapihan sa PIA” of the Philippine Information Agency – Occidental Mindoro, DTI Provincial Head Noel D. Flores said that the P5 million funds under the DTI’s Livelihood Seeding Program – Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay (LSP-NSB) will be used to provide supplies or equipment that matches the recipient’s existing business.

“Mayroon na po kaming na-profile na around 60 MSMEs. ‘Yong iba po sa mga grocery, ‘yong iba naman ay may mga shop, furniture…mayroong tailoring, may beauty parlor, kung ano po ang nature ng kanilang buisness,” Flores explained.

(We have profiled around 60 MSMEs. Some sell groceries, others operate furniture shops, tailoring, and beauty parlors.)

He said the identified beneficiaries must have necessary operating permits, such as a business permit, a Barangay Micro Business Enterprise (BMBE) certificate, and business name registration.

An orientation workshop for the profiled beneficiaries is scheduled for the second week of October 2024 to help beneficiaries learn more about the program.

The interventions are expected to be delivered to the recipients before this year ends.

The LSP-NSB is one of the government’s programs, in partnership with the LGUs, focusing on assisting MSMEs affected by natural and human-induced calamities including health disasters arising from epidemics and pandemics. (DSG/PIA MIMAROPA – Occidental Mindoro)
