Calapan City opens tourism information desk for summer vacation influx

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) — The City Tourism, Culture and Arts Department of Calapan has opened its Tourism Information Desk at the Calapan City Port from April 12 to 17, 2025, in line with the Summer Vacation (SumVac) Program of the local government.

The initiative aims to assist the increasing number of tourists, balikbayans and local travelers arriving in the city during the dry season and Holy Week.

The Calapan City Port remains the city’s primary entry point, with visitor traffic typically rising during this period.

According to City Tourism Officer Angel Joy Acedera, the information desk provides essential tourism-related services including details on accommodations, restaurants, transportation, events and safety reminders.

Trained tourism personnel are stationed at the desk to guide visitors and refer them to Department of Tourism (DOT)-accredited establishments and service providers.

“This is part of our continuing effort to promote visitor-friendly and sustainable tourism. We want our guests to feel welcomed and informed upon their arrival,” Acedera said.

Aside from enhancing the visitor experience, the Tourism Information Desk also serves as a feedback and data-gathering hub to support future tourism planning and policy development.

The City Government of Calapan encourages visitors to utilize the services offered at the port and invites them to explore the city’s local attractions, heritage sites and natural destinations. (JJGS/PIA MIMAROPA-Oriental Mindoro)
