MANILA, (PIA) — The City Government of Caloocan is ramping up its support for local cooperatives in celebration of Cooperative Month this October.
The Cooperative Development and Coordinating Division (CDCD) is leading various activities to acknowledge the vital role of cooperatives in the city’s economic development and to assist them with registration and management.
The celebration commenced on Tuesday, October 1, with a motorcade, a community gathering (Salu-salo), and a Coop Singing Contest, attended by representatives from the city’s registered cooperatives.
Upcoming events include mandatory training sessions and recognition for top-performing cooperatives.
City Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan praised the members and officers of local cooperatives for their participation and announced that additional programs will be implemented to ensure the cooperatives benefit their members and the broader community.
“Thank you to the CDCD and to all the cooperatives in our city. The programs laid out this Coop Month are for you, and we will ensure that the city government assists you with your needs,” Mayor Along stated.
He acknowledged the presence of small and emerging cooperatives in Caloocan and pledged to strengthen support programs to promote their growth.
“We will continue to enhance our programs to focus on the development of your organizations, as well as the advancement of your members and the communities you serve,” he added.
The mayor also urged the public to support local cooperatives.
“To all the Batang Kankaloo, by helping and supporting the products and services offered by our cooperatives, you contribute significantly to the economic growth of our city,” he said. (JCO/PIA-NCR)
