MANILA, (PIA) — Caloocan Mayor Along Malapitan signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to establish a Service Contracting Program for the city’s transport cooperatives.

This program aims to provide financial assistance to jeepney operators and drivers.

Under the agreement, cooperatives will receive P20 per kilometer their jeepneys travel on designated routes. With jeepneys typically covering 100 to 120 kilometers daily, drivers could see an additional income of P2,000 to P2,400.

In a separate event, Mayor Malapitan also presided over the oath-taking ceremony of the North Caloocan Transportation Federation, composed of presidents from various jeepney operator and driver associations in the city.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting the transportation sector, alongside the Public Safety and Traffic Management Department. (PIA-NCR)
