QUEZON CITY, (PIA) – To ensure a safe and peaceful observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day or locally known as “Undas,” the local government of Caloocan issued important guidelines for residents who will visit their departed loved ones.
The guidelines primarily state that visitors are only allowed to clean or repair the graves of their loved ones until October 29, 2024. This is to avoid disruptive activities which may affect the solemnity of cemeteries during the observance period.
The local government also strictly reminds the public to refrain from bringing alcoholic beverages and sharp objects within the cemetery such as knives, cutters, and ice picks, among others.
To maintain the tranquility of surroundings, visitors are prohibited from bringing firecrackers, radio, speakers, and other items that could create loud sounds.
Gambling is also prohibited within the vicinity of cemeteries including the possession of playing cards, mahjong, and other types of gambling devices.
Vehicles are not permitted to enter the cemetery since a huge crowd of people are expected to visit their departed loved ones.
In addition, the local government reminded visitors to comply with the designated entry and exit points of cemeteries to maintain public order.
Cleaning operations
Less than two weeks before the observance of Undas on November 1 and 2, the local government of Caloocan is intensifying its cleaning operations within the public cemeteries in the city.
“Nagpapasalamat po tayo sa Public Safety and Traffic Management Department at sa City Environmental Management Department sa pagtutulong-tulong upang mapanatiling maaliwalas ang himlayan ng ating mga kababayang yumao,” said Caloocan City Mayor Along Malapitan.
(We thank the Public Safety and Traffic Management Department and the City Environmental Management Department for working together to ensure the cleanliness and orderliness of the final resting place of our constituents who departed.)
The cemetery schedule in the city will be from October 30 to November 2, 7:00 am to 10:00 pm.
For emergencies during the observance period of Undas, visitors can contact the hotline of the Caloocan City government at: 888 – ALONG (25664). (JMP/Caloocan PIO)
