MANILA, (PIA) — Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan personally inspected several barangays in the city affected by rising floodwaters, where he led the distribution of food and medical aid.
“We have made sure that there is food, adequate medical attention and that our residents can sleep well in the midst of flooding and continuous rain in their area. We will make sure that they are comfortable in the evacuation center until they can return to their respective homes,” Malapitan said.

Together with personnel from the City Health Department (CHD) and City Social Welfare and Development Department (CSWDD), Malapitan personally visited the residents in Brgy. 180, 183, and 185 that were severely affected by typhoon Egay and habagat or southwest monsoon.
According to Malapitan, residents have nothing to worry about because the local government will provide all the help and needs of the evacuees until they return to their homes.
At the same time, Malapitan also visited flood-prone areas in the city including Doña Aurora in Brgy. 177; Phase 6 in Brgy. 178, and Crispulo St. and Quirino Highway in Brgy. 180.
Malapitan instructed the City Engineering Department to study possible solutions to prevent flooding. It also called on residents to immediately contact the city government in case of emergency situations through the alert and monitoring emergency hotline.
“I have given a directive to our City Engineering Department to conduct dredging operations and have projects to alleviate flooding in areas in our city,” the mayor added. (PIA-NCR)
