DAET, Camarines Norte – The Provincial Government of Camarines Norte (PGCN) has allocated P2 million for a fish cages project that will be implemented next year.
The fish cages project will help sustain the income of fishermen especially when there are weather disturbances.
Gov. Ricarte Padilla announced the development during the Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment meeting of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC).
Each fish cage will cost P100,000 and will also include fingerlings as their startup capital.

This will be given to organized fisherfolks who have a track record and are able to manage and handle business.
He said that the fishermen will have a sustainable income in case there are “no sailing policy or gale warning” wherein they are not allowed to go on fishing.
The governor understands that fishermen feed themselves from the daily income they have gathered for a day-to-day basis for them to survive.
The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) representative cited that they have given two fish cages recently in the organization of fisherfolks in Jose Panganiban and Mercedes towns that also served as fishermen additional source of income. (PIA5/Camarines Norte)
