Prime Minister Hun Manet of Cambodia praised the Philippine government’s peace process initiatives and its development of human resources.
During a bilateral meeting on Tuesday at Malacanang Palace, the Cambodian leader commended President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for the Philippine government’s efforts in maintaining the peace process.
He also praised the contributions of Filipinos in Cambodia to the country’s socioeconomic progress.
“I appreciate the Philippines’ contributions to our peace process and human resource development in civilian and military fields,” Hun Manet said.
“We also recognize the vital role of the Filipino community in our socioeconomic progress,” he added.
The Cambodian prime minister said the two nations’ cooperation spans multiple sectors, including defense, security, trade investment, economy, and people-to-people exchanges.
“We are keen on taking our collaborations to (a) new height,” he said.
Manet cited the 68 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries and collaborations extending beyond government-to-government ties.
He described the friendship between the Philippines and Cambodia as long-lasting, with historical ties dating back to 1872 when the late King Norodom visited the Philippines.
“Over the decades, our relationship has flourished built on mutual respect and shared interests,” he said.
Manet is confident that his visit to Manila, which is his first, will lead to a stronger and more dynamic partnership between Cambodia and the Philippines. |PND
