CAMIGUIN (PIA) — For three consecutive years, the Provincial Government of Camiguin has received the prestigious Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG).
Camiguin is one of only 41 provinces in the country this year to receive this esteemed recognition, highlighting its strong commitment to good governance.
Four other municipalities in the province—Mambajao, Mahinog, Sagay, and Guinsiliban—also received the award for their exceptional performance in governance.

The SGLG award recognizes local government units (LGUs) that demonstrate outstanding governance, transparency, accountability, and service to their constituents. It also serves as an acknowledgment of the dedication and efforts of local chief executives (LCEs) in promoting effective governance.
After receiving the award on December 9 at the Manila Hotel, Gov. Xavier Jesus Romualdo expressed his gratitude for the recognition, emphasizing that the achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of all local government officials and employees in Camiguin.
“Kini na award dili lang para sa provincial government, but for the entire province and, of course, for the Camiguingnons. This award also reflects our commitment as leaders to work together in sustaining and continuing the progress in the province,” Romualdo said.
(This award is not only for the provincial government but for the entire province and, of course, for the people of Camiguin.)
Romualdo also commended the four municipalities for their outstanding governance, which significantly contributed to the success of the provincial government.

“Of course, dili ni maabot sa province without the efforts of our municipal mayors. Ang commitment ni Mayor Yggy Romualdo, Mayor Ensoy Tan, Mayor Tata Abecia, ug Mayor Andal Uayan sa transparency, accountability, and efficient service delivery has set a high standard for the entire province,” Romualdo added.

The commitment of Mayor Yggy Romualdo, Mayor Ensoy Tan, Mayor Tata Abecia, and Mayor Andal Uayan to transparency, accountability, and efficient service delivery has set a high standard for the entire province.)
This year’s awarding also marks a special milestone for the Municipality of Guinsiliban, as it is the first time the LGU has won the prestigious award.
Romualdo and all the LCEs in the province vowed to sustain their efforts toward good governance and remain committed to upholding these principles in order to drive further development in Camiguin.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government has awarded 48 LGUs from northern Mindanao with the prestigious SGLG recognition this year. (PGO/PIA-10/Camiguin)
