CAMIGUIN (PIA) — Strengthening local initiatives for responsible waste handling, the provincial government of Camiguin, through Gov. Xavier Jesus Romualdo, has partnered with Coca-Cola Beverages Philippines, Inc. (CCBPI) in the collection and recycling of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles in Camiguin.

With the recent signing of a memorandum of agreement, CCBPI will provide the provincial government with a baling machine to help recycle PET bottles into new, food-grade rPET bottles, greatly reducing plastic waste’s environmental impact.

This baling machine will collect and process PET bottles, commonly used for water, soft drinks, and other beverages, before sending them to PETValue Philippines, the nation’s first bottle-to-bottle recycling facility.

(The rPET will help conserve resources and reduce plastic waste. Through our collaboration, we are not only creating positive changes in waste management but also building a cleaner and safer environment for future generations in our province.)

The governor added that the partnership is part of a broader commitment to ensure that advances in recycling technology help preserve resources, while Camiguin remains a pleasant and sustainable place to live. (RTP/PIA-10/Camiguin)
