Camiguin inflation eases to 2.4% in March 2025

CAMIGUIN (PIA) — Camiguin’s inflation rate slowed to 2.4 percent in March 2025, down slightly from 2.5 percent in February. This is a decrease from the 4.2 percent rate recorded in March 2024.

All provinces in Northern Mindanao experienced a decrease in their inflation rates in March 2025. Lanao del Norte, in particular, posted a notable decline with an inflation rate of 0.4 percent, down by 0.6 percentage points from 1.0 percent in February. Similarly, Bukidnon, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental recorded lower inflation rates of 0.4 percent, 1.0 percent, and 3.0 percent, respectively.

The decrease in Camiguin’s inflation was mainly due to slower price increases in several commodity groups. These included alcoholic beverages and tobacco (5.9 percent), furnishings and household maintenance (2.2 percent), and health (2.7 percent). The index for housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels remained unchanged at 1.6 percent.

Meanwhile, transport posted a 15.5 percent rate; recreation, sport, and culture at 1.7 percent; restaurants and accommodation services at 5.4 percent; and personal care and miscellaneous goods and services at 1.8 percent.

Some commodity groups recorded faster increases compared to February. These were food and non-alcoholic beverages at 0.7 percent, clothing and footwear at 4.2 percent, and information and communication at 1.0 percent. Inflation rates for education and financial services remained unchanged. (PSA Camiguin/PIA-10/Camiguin)
