Camiguin launches e-ticketing system for online booking at tourist sites

Mambajao, CAMIGUIN (PIA) — To enhance the visitor experience, Camiguin activated its innovative e-ticketing system on July 27, which enables tourists and residents to book and pay for visits to select tourist sites online via the islevisitcamiguin.com website.

Under the new system, tourists and residents can now reserve their visits to Tuasan Falls, Sto. Niño Cold Spring, Soda Water Pool, and Mantigue Island Nature Park and pay securely online through a variety of options, such as by bank transfer, GCash, PayMaya, and others.

After booking online, guests will only need to scan their Camiguin Smart Travel Code on the site for quick entry, reducing queuing times.

The provincial government’s introduction of the e-ticketing system is an initiative to simplify processes, manage tourist flows, and limit overcrowding at sites. A single electronic ticket also reduces printing costs and waste, improving environmental protection.

Gov. Xavier Jesus “XJ” D. Romualdo emphasized the importance of improving the overall visitor experience to position the province as a premier destination, offering unique experiences that appeal to both local and international travelers.

“Enhancing the overall visitor experience is paramount to our mission to position Camiguin as one of the top-of-mind destinations in the Philippines. By implementing smart tourism innovations such as the advanced e-ticketing system, we aim to provide easy access to our attractions and improve visitor convenience,” Romualdo said.

The provincial government has also announced plans to expand its e-ticketing system to include reservations for all Camiguin tourist sites and other services. According to Provincial Tourism Officer Candice Dael, the forthcoming enhancements will significantly broaden the system’s scope, encompassing not only tourist site reservations but also extending to accommodation bookings, restaurant reservations, transportation arrangements, and even the purchase of local goods, souvenirs, and products.

“We’re excited to let you know about the expansion of the province’s ticketing system. We want to make it super easy for everyone to book all our awesome tourist spots. You’ll also soon be able to book accommodations, make restaurant reservations, sort out transportation, and even grab local goodies and souvenirs all in one place. It’s all about making your visit to our province as smooth and enjoyable as possible,” Dael shared.

The e-ticketing system is set to redefine travel experiences and is a cornerstone of the province’s strategy for achieving a target of 350,000 tourist arrivals this year. Now fully operational, this initiative stands as just one of the many efforts made to boost the tourism industry in the province, ensuring every visitor enjoys a seamless and enriching experience in Camiguin.
