CAMIGUIN (PIA)–To highlight the 34th National Statistics Month, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Camiguin Provincial Statistical Office, in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd), Division of Camiguin Office, held the poster-making contest among the 15 junior high school students from different schools in the province on October 20, at Charisse by the Sea, Mercy Village, Poblacion, Mambajao, here.
With this year’s NSM theme, “Accelerating Progress: Promoting Data and Statistics for Healthy Philippines,” the participants were encouraged to express the theme through visual means and challenged to think and work with creativity in order to come up with an artistic product.
Participants were given one hour and thirty minutes to complete the poster, which had to be done on the spot. The criteria for judging were as follows: relevance to the theme (40%), creativity (40%), and originality (20%).
After the deliberation of judges, the proclaimed winners are Phoebe Joeres S. Panaligan from Guinsiliban National High School, who was the champion with an average score of 95.67 percent. Second was Nick Angelo D. Mangmang from Mambajao National High School, with an average score of 91 percent, while Jetro D. Gonzales from Camiguin National High School claimed third place, with an average score of 87 percent.
The winners were awarded a plaque and a certificate of recognition. This activity was organized to encourage young artists to showcase their skills and inspire them to be more creative and compassionate in the field of the arts. (PSA Camiguin/PIA-10/Camiguin)
