CAMIGUIN (PIA) — Taking decisive action to combat water loss, Camiguin Water Company (CWC) has recovered 4 million liters of water per day (MLD), ensuring a more reliable supply for households and businesses across the province.

Water loss has long been a challenge in the province, with leaks and inefficiencies affecting supply. Since taking over, CWC has made significant progress in reducing these losses, strengthening its commitment to efficient water management.

Water loss happens when water is produced but doesn’t reach consumers due to leaks, theft, or metering inaccuracies. By addressing these issues, CWC enhances water efficiency and ensures sustainable access for all residents.

The recovered water will not only strengthen supply in existing areas but also allow for the expansion of service to underserved communities. Additionally, the improvements have led to better water pressure, which translates to more consistent water flow for households, ensuring reliable supply for daily needs such as cooking, cleaning, and bathing. For businesses, especially those in the hospitality and food industries, stable water pressure is essential for smooth operations, maintaining hygiene standards, and ensuring customer satisfaction.

“Water is a vital resource, and every drop counts. By proactively reducing water loss, we ensure that Camiguin residents have access to a more reliable and sustainable water supply. This initiative reflects our commitment to efficiency, sustainability, and community service,” said CWC General Manager Jonathan Sarsonas.

CWC encourages all customers to take an active role in water conservation by promptly reporting leaks in their areas. The company is also launching a community engagement campaign to educate residents on the importance of water conservation and how they can help in detecting and preventing wastage.

Looking ahead, CWC plans to invest in additional infrastructure upgrades, including smart metering systems and real-time monitoring technologies, to further reduce losses and improve service reliability.

These efforts align with regulatory standards and long-term sustainability goals, ensuring that Camiguin’s water supply remains sufficient and resilient for future generations.
