CAMIGUIN (PIA) — Camiguin Water is urging residents to conserve water and pay bills on time as the dry season approaches.
The utility company emphasized the need for early action to avoid the supply issues currently affecting other provinces.
With demand expected to rise, Camiguin Water noted that system pressure could increase despite ongoing infrastructure improvements. The company warned that without public cooperation, recent gains could be at risk.
“We’ve seen what happens when systems are left behind and improvements are delayed. Camiguin still has a chance to avoid that outcome, but it will take all of us,” said Ariel Babutin, spokesperson for Camiguin Water.
Camiguin Water has been replacing old pipelines, improving monitoring systems, and extending service to more areas. These efforts, Babutin said, depend on consistent public support.
He highlighted the role of timely payments in funding continued upgrades. Stable collections allow the utility to reinvest efficiently and maintain service without interruption. Any changes in water rates, he said, are based on operational needs and used to deliver reliable service.
“It’s not just about keeping the taps running today. It’s about building a system that works five, ten, or even twenty years from now. Every peso paid helps us do that,” Babutin said.
He also reminded residents to monitor their water use during the dry season. He said even small adjustments can support supply stability. While system improvements are ongoing, shared responsibility remains key.
“We’re doing our part to build a stronger, more resilient system. Now we need the community’s help – by using water wisely and paying on time—to keep Camiguin ahead of the curve and out of crisis,” Babutin said.
