DAET, Camarines Norte (PIA) – The Philippine Information Agency’s Camarines Norte Information Center, with the support of the Camarines Norte Communicators Network (CamNorteComNet), recently conducted its 12th Information Caravan and One-Stop Shop at SM City Daet.
The event promoted government programs and projects and provided services to the public.
Camarines Norte Provincial Administrator Don Padilla stressed the importance of the information caravan in his message.
“(This activity is) very important dahil marami sa ating kababayan ang hindi aware sa serbisyo ng ating (because many of our fellow citizens are not aware of the services provided by the) national at local governments, ” he said.
“Kalaban ng katotohanan ang fake news at nakikita ko ang magiging problema nito sa susunod na election, ganun din ang paglaganap ng Artificial Intelligence na mga generated voice recordings,” he added.
(The enemy of truth is fake news, and I foresee a problem in the next election. Additionally, I am concerned about the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to generate voice recordings.)
Padilla emphasized that CamNorteComNet and the information caravan are essential in preventing the spread of fake news.
As public information officers (PIOs), they should prioritize credibility in their communications. He urged the participants to heed the PIOs’ information to avoid being misinformed.
“Dito ko nalaman na ang aking SSS ay active pa rin pala kasi binata pa ako ng ako ay maging miyembro at nais ko itong ipagpatuloy,” said Abner Raymundo, head of Barangay Cobangbang, Daet.
(I am informed here that my SSS is still active, I was single when I became a member and I wanted to continue my contribution.
Raymundo was one of the 50 direct participants in the Information Caravan/One-Stop Shop. The information caravan also provided services to mall goers during the day.
“Nagpapasalamat kami sa PIA sa pag conduct ng ganitong information caravan, malaking bagay para sa amin na malaman ang lahat ng impormasyon ng mga programa ng gobyerno”, he said.
(We express our gratitude to PIA for organizing the information caravan, which provided us with valuable insights into the government’s programs.)
Raymundo said that he would share with his constituents in the barangay what he has learned to make them aware of the programs of the government.
CamNorteComNet Election Officer Rommel Pajarin, on the other hand, said that the purpose of the information caravan and services is to bring government programs and services to the community.
“We have conducted 12 Information Caravan/One-Stop Shops in the barangays and municipalities of Camarines Norte including this one,” he said.
The information caravan served as their means to disseminate their policies and programs on disaster response and mitigation, Daet Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officer Santiago Mella Jr. said.
Mella said the disaster preparedness campaigns will benefit not only communities in Daet but also other areas it may reach.
There are no boundaries when it comes to disasters, he added.
Convenor PIA Information Center Manager Rosalita Manlangit expressed her gratitude to 33 government agencies’ PIOs who participated and delivered services during the information caravan.
She said the CamNorteComNet is becoming stronger in terms of participation.
As they carry out such activities, agencies and local governments are actively cooperating in such endeavors, she added.
The CamNorteComNet members who discussed programs and delivered services were chiefs and PIOs of PIA, COMELEC, DTI, BFP, DOST, Pag-IBIG Fund, BJMP, PNP, CSC, NCIP, DICT, PSA, TESDA, PAGASA, CNSC, SEC-Legazpi City, NBI, BSP-South Luzon, SSS, DA, CNWD/PrimeWater, DPWH, PENRO-DENR, BFAR, LTO, PCG, PRC, LGU-DAET, 902ND IBDe Philippine Army, BIR, PDEA, CANORECO and provincial government of Camarines Norte.
The activity was in partnership with the local government unit of Daet, the Provincial Government of Camarines Norte (PGCN) and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
It provided wide coverage through social media’s Facebook Live and radio broadcasts that reached more communities. The activity was also supported by the New Camarines Norte Broadcast and Print Media Organization, Inc. and Camarines Norte Press Club. (PIA 5/Camarines Norte)
