Camsur villagers benefitted from gov’t services caravan

PILI, Camarines Sur (PIA) – The Philippine Information Agency Camarines Sur Communicators Network (PIA CamSur CommNet) in collaboration with the Kapisanan ng Mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP)-Camarines Sur Chapter and the 9th Infantry Division Press Corps of the Philippine Army (PA) organized a government services caravan in Barangay Tinangis, Pili.

Dubbed as “Bayanihan sa Barangay,” the initiative benefitted more than 500 villagers from the services provided by the 9th Infantry Division dental team and Camp Elias Angeles Station Hospital (CEASH), Commission on Elections (Comelec), Technical Education Skills and Skills Development Authority – Ragay Polytechnic Institute (TESDA-RPSI), Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth), and the Department of Agriculture (DA) Regional Office 5.

Despite the heavy rain, 74-year-old Evelyn Selga, supported by a wooden cane, was grateful for the free medical services provided by CEASH doctors, led by Lt. Col. Julian Gualberto Dellosa. Free medicines and vitamins were also distributed to her and other residents in need.

Over 1,000 residents received free haircuts, 20 boys received free circumcision, and 46 residents benefited from dental services.

Celia, a mother of two boys preparing for the school opening next week, saved money through the free haircut service. She said she could use the saved money to buy school supplies.

Also, 127 people lined up to avail themselves of the Special Satellite Registration of Voters under the Register Anywhere Program (RAP) of the Comelec.

Meanwhile, three teams from TESDA-RPSI, led by Vocational School Superintendent Rosalyn Perida, conducted skills demonstrations on setting up photovoltaic systems, house wiring, and fermented juice production.

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in Camarines Sur, on the other hand, served a total of 72 clients for their civil registry document requests and inquiries and registration for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) Step 2.

Amelia Abad, a 42-year-old resident of Zone IB, expressed her gratitude for the convenience provided by the Bayanihan. She no longer had to go to Naga City to obtain the PSA birth certificates of her two children, who will be starting school next week.

“Nakatipid na kami sa pamasahe, nakatipid pa sa oras. Grabeng ginhawa samuya kan aktibidad na ini. Kaya salamat saindo asin sa mga ahensyang yaon igde. Sana dakul pang mga ahensya ang mag igde samuya,” Abad said.

PhilHealth processed 39 Member Registration Forms (MRFs) on site and handled 46 inquiries and record verifications. PhilHealth personnel also introduced one of their newest programs, the Konsulta or Konsultasyong Sulit at Tama, which aims to protect all Filipinos from chronic illness through early detection and the provision of affordable medicines.

Moreover, 235 residents received a variety of vegetable seeds from the DA regional office, represented by its Public Information Officer, Lovella Guarin. Reading materials and planting pamphlets were also distributed during the activity.

“Maogmahon ako ta nag-irigde kamu sa barangay ko asin dinara ang serbisyo kan gobyerno direkta sa mga tao. Dakulang tabang ini sa mga kahimanwa ko para makatipid sa pamasahe, asin sa saindang oras. Sana mas dakul pang arog kaini,” Tinangis Punong Barangay Arturo Bismonte said.

(I am grateful that you visited our barangay and directly brought the services of the government to the people. This is a big help as it spared my constituents from spending some money. It also saved their time and effort.) (PIA 5)
