Capitol leads post-election clean-up drive

ILOILO CITY (PIA) — “Limpyo Eleksyon for MoRProGRes,” a post-election waste management program in the province of Iloilo, is now implemented through the signing of Executive Order No. 42.

Under the order, all candidates, political parties, party-list organizations, and other organizations who participated in the May 12, 2025 polls are enjoined to clean up and dispose properly the campaign waste materials.

According to the Capitol press report, Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. signed the EO during his press conference on May 13, hours before his official proclamation as the re-elected governor of Iloilo by the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Limpyo Eleksyon also complements Defensor’s Balik-Alat program which aims to eliminate single-use plastics by reviving the use of environment-friendly handwoven baskets.

The Provincial Government Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO), meanwhile, commenced “Operation Bakas” in the fifth district, together with the personnel from the General Services Office. The Capitol team conducted the removal and collection of posters, tarpaulins, banners, flyers, leaflets, and similar campaign materials.

The collected campaign materials will be turned over to community-based organizations to be upcycled into bags, pouches, and wallets. (AAL/LMLE/PIA Iloilo/Iloilo Provincial Gov’t)
