ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) — The local government unit and the barangay government units of Cuartero town fully support the creation of the Barangay Information Officers Network under the Philippine Information Agency through the release of executive orders.
The Cuartero LGU has issued Executive Order No. 48, s. 2025, designating barangay secretaries as BIOs of their respective barangays.
As stated in the EO, one of the primary roles of the BIOs is to serve as the official focal persons for development communication with the PIA, ensuring information dissemination.
Cuartero municipal information officer Imelda Cedullo noted that following the issuance of the municipal EO, all barangay government units have also passed their respective EOs designating their BIOs.
During the BIO orientation and Hinun-anon sa Barangay, Cedullo emphasized the importance of sharing accurate news and information to avoid misinterpretation.
“Umpisa subong tani maging isa na kita ka tuod-tuod nga manug-inform sang balita, sa insakto nga pamaagi kag sa tama nga emosyon. Kay usually sa aton, nagarelay kita sa mga Facebook accounts naton sang kung ano-ano nga ara kita sa sinalabo sang aton balatyagon. Since na orient na kamo subong sa kung ano gid ang aton nga papel, panindugan ta ina maski additional ini nga work sa inyo,” Cedullo added. Brgy. San Antonio Punong Barangay Welmar Briñosa expressed his gratitude, highlighting that the orientation helped them understand the importance of having a BIO in each barangay.
Representatives from the Department of Labor and Employment, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the Social Security System also provided updates on their respective programs and projects.
In addition, the SSS Roxas City branch conducted SSS e-wheels, allowing BIOs and employees of Cuartero LGU to check on the status of their SSS membership accounts.
As of February 2025, Cuartero town is the seventh municipality in the province to organize its BION through the PIA Capiz Information Center. (AGP/PLF/PIA Capiz)
