Capiz volunteerism expo, activity set

ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) — A program for a provincewide volunteerism activity and exhibit that aims to strengthen the spirit of volunteerism and to create a database for all Capiceños who are willing to volunteer in any cause is set on Dec. 19 at the SM City along Arnaldo Boulevard, here.

The initiative dubbed “CapizBISIG”, a partnership between Capiz provincial government, Capiz State University and Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency, is in support of the National Volunteer Month this December.

The “CapizBISIG” is a pun for “kapit bisig” (linking arms) or working together.

PNVSCA Executive Director Donald James D. Gawe, Capiz Gov. Fredenil Castro and CapSU President Dr. Efren Linan are expected to convey their messages during the program and lead the ribbon cutting of volunteers’ expo in the mall.

During the day, a simultaneous mobilization of volunteer activities by nine CapSU campuses, national government agencies, local government units and schools will be streamed live at the venue.

The CapizBISIG has also established an online application form at https://bit.ly/CapizBisigSignUp to collect information from Capiceños interested in volunteering for various organizations aligned with their preferences and interests.

The preferred volunteer focus areas include Environmental Conservation and Climate Action, Education and Youth Development, Disaster Response and Preparedness, Health and Wellness, Community Development and Social Services, Gender and Development, Advocacy and Campaigns, Cultural Preservation and Heritage, Animal Welfare, Sports and Recreation and Technology and Innovation.

An update on the total number of volunteers registered in the province will be announced during the program.

“It’s your chance to make a lasting impact in our community! Whether you’re passionate about environmental sustainability, helping others, or simply want to be part of a powerful volunteer movement—this event is for you!,” said an information material for the event.

The NVM aims to build nationwide public awareness and appreciation of volunteerism, create the environment for voluntary action and recognize volunteers as partners in development. (AGP/AAL/PIA Capiz/Photos from CaPENRO and PNVSCA)
