ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) — A university-wide symposium to End Violence Against Women was conducted by the Capiz State University Roxas City main campus, Dec. 6, in view of the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women.
The activity highlighted the discussion about Republic Act 9710 or the Magna Carta of Women and Republic Act 9262 known as Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act of 2004 that were presented by CapSU legal officers Toche Vic B. Doce and Ann Margaret P. Dy, respectively.
It also included talks about awareness on Human Immunodeficiency Virus and the salient points of RA 10354 or “The Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health Act of 2012″ and awareness.
An open forum followed after each of the presentations.
“Today we reaffirm our collective commitment to end VAW and create a society where every individual, regardless of gender, is treated with dignity, respect and equality,” said CapSU Roxas City main campus focal person Dr. Cleo Jude Joaquin.
Last Dec. 5, the Central Administration employees of CapSU once again showed their support to end the violence against women and girls campaign by wearing the VAW-FREE shirt.
The “Orange Thursday” was led by CapSU president Dr. Efren L. Linan, university GAD director Dr. Lucille Marquez, together with school key officials and employees.
The yearly observance of the 18-Day Campaign to End VAW from November 25 to December 12 calls for for unity among all genders and sectors of society to finally put an end to violence in all its forms.
The Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) has been mandated to lead, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate the nationwide observance with the 2022-2027 recurring campaign theme, “UNiTEd for a VAW-free Philippines” and its 2024 sub-theme, “VAW Bigyang Wakas, Ngayon na ang Oras!”. (AGP/ AAL/PIA Capiz)
