ANTIPOLO CITY (PIA) – Maj. Gen. Roberto Capulong has retired as the 43rd Commander of the Philippine Army’s 2nd Infantry (Jungle Fighters) Division following a two-year tenure that marked unprecedented gains in peace and reconciliation in Southern Tagalog.
Capulong, a member of the Philippine Military Academy “Bigkis-Lahi” Class of 1990, began his military career as a Platoon Leader and then advanced to serve as Company Commander in the 27th Infantry Battalion, 6th Infantry Division.
His experience in numerous command and staff positions enhanced his leadership qualities that led him to be the 2ID’s commander on October 20, 2022.
During the Stakeholders’ Appreciation Day held at Camp General Mateo Capinpin in Tanay, Rizal on September 11, Capulong thanked everyone who had helped him during his stint.
“This event holds great significance for me, as it provided the opportunity to personally thank all our partners in ensuring the success of our missions to maintain peace and order within our area of responsibility,” he said.
Capulong’s term was marked by community participation and dedication to operational readiness, which aided the division’s overall success. (MBL/PIA – Rizal)
