Catanduanes awards WaSH equipment, facilities to 203 beneficiairies

VIRAC, Catanduanes (PIA)- A total of 203 beneficiaries from selected towns of the province received construction materials for building sanitary facilities from the provincial government of Catanduanes through its Water Sanitation and Health (WaSH) program during the turnover ceremony held at the Provincial Convention Center on July 28, 2023.

WaSH is a flagship program of Governor Joseph Cua which aims to solve the lack of accessibility to clean water and sanitary facilities for a significant number of Catandunganons.

Cua collaborated with Manila Water Foundation, United Nations International Children’s Fund (Unicef) and A Single Drop for Safe Water, a non-profit organization based in Puerto Princesa to make the program possible.

In his message, Cua said that he has been in close collaboration with the said organizations since 2021 to realize his goal of unhindered access to safe water and sanitary facilities for those in need.

Together with Vice Governor Peter Cua, recipients from the municipalities of Virac, Bato, San Andres and Baras received cement packs, hollow blocks, G.I. sheets, a plastic bathroom door, a water drum, wood, plastic tubes and toilet bowls.

Said materials will be used for constructing bathrooms which may serve as personal or communal depending on the situation of the beneficiaries.

Gov. Cua also conveyed his hope that the impact of clean water and proper sanitation will reach far beyond today’s ceremony and echo through the next generation.

Inaugurations and turnovers in other municipalities in Catanduanes will also be scheduled. (PIA5/Catanduanes)
