VIRAC, Catanduanes (PIA)- Catanduanes bagged a major accolade in the recently concluded 12th Salud Bicolnon Awards by the Department of Health (DOH) Center for Health Development Regional Office V held Dec. 14, 2023 at the Marisson Hotel, Legazpi City.
The Provincial Local Government Unit of Catanduanes, through the Provincial Health Office, received the Green Achiever Award, the highest award for local government units in recognition of its outstanding implementation of health programs.
Dr. Hazel A. Palmes, Provincial Health Officer II, represented Governor Joseph C. Cua in the activity. She dedicated the award to the hardworking personnel in the local health sector.
In a message crafted by Cua, Palmes communicated that the annual recognition activity motivates the province to consistently exceed expectations in delivering essential services to all Catandunganons. Further, he started that the accolades received by the LGUs are manifestations of commitment in continuously improving our local health system.
The province received a plaque of recognition and Php 500,000 award.
PIA5/Catanduanes: Representatives from Juan M. Alberto Memorial DIstrict Hospital of San Andres receive P50,000.00 for being the Best Institutionalized Mental Health and Drug-Free Workplace. (EABagadiong)
LGUs San Miguel and Virac were also cited with the same recognition which comes with a price money of P 200,000 and plaques of recognition.
For the various programs in health, Eastern Bicol Medical Center was announced as the Best Implementer of the Newborn Screening program, while the Juan M. Alberto Memorial District Hospital of San Andres was awarded Best Institutionalized Mental Health and Drug-Free Workplace with Wellness Program Services for Employees.
Meanwhile, the Bato Rural Health Unit was given the Best Mental Health and Substance Use Prevention Program Implementer (Municipal Level).
For the Chikiting Ligtas Award 2023 – DOH also cited the Top Performing Municipality for MR-bOPV SIA Campaign and top 5 Rural Health Units in Catanduanes: 1st place – Panganiban RHU ; 2nd place – Pandan RHU; 3rd place – Bato RHU; 4th place – Gigmoto RHI; abnd 5th place – Caramoran RHU.
The Best LGU National Voluntary Blood Services Program Implementer was given to LGU San Miguel.
For Best Performing LGUs on the Community-Based House to House Philippine Package of Essential Non-Communicable Disease Intervention (PhilPEN) Risk Assessment, the Provincial Health Office (PHO) of Catanduanes was given citation for the municipal category of and for the provincial level.
