Catarman Mayor Kiterio Antonio Palarca II received agricultural inputs worth P366,158 and expressed gratitude for the agency’s support in advancing the town’s agri-fishery sector. He highlighted the municipality’s commitment to increasing production to achieve local food sufficiency.
The town also aims to meet the growing market demand for local produce.

Among the beneficiaries of the agricultural interventions were members of the Tangaro Young Farmers’ Association (TYFA), a Farmers’ Association (FA) supported under the SAAD Program Phase 2 in Camiguin.
On the same day, TYFA received various agricultural tools and supplies, including 15 shovels, five garden hoses, 30 egg trays, 30 plastic live poultry coops, five chicken nets, 50 waterers of different sizes, and 50 feeders of varying sizes.
The FY 2024 Integrated Poultry and High-Value Crop Production Project, worth P1.454 million, includes the interventions specifically for TYFA.
“Nagpasalamat gyud mi kaayo’g dako, daghan gyud kaayo’g salamat sa DA-SAAD Region 10 sa dako nga opportunity, dakong blessing nga among nadawat, labi na karon sa mga materials nga among nadawat. Nakadugang gyud ni og dako kaayo nga tabang sa among organisasyon nga na-enhance o napalago kini namo pinaagi sa tabang sa DA-SAAD,” said Evelyn Macabaya, TYFA secretary.
(We are thankful to DA-SAAD Region 10 for the great opportunity, this great blessing that we received, particularly the materials we got. With the help of DA-SAAD, these interventions will be a lot of help in enhancing or growing our organization.)

With the support of TYFA and other farmers and fisherfolk in Catarman, the town aims to meet the growing market demand for local produce.
Currently reliant on supplies from the main island of Mindanao, Catarman is working towards achieving food sustainability by increasing production from its local farms, with assistance from the region’s agricultural agency. (SAAD-10/PIA-10/Camiguin)
