TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite (PIA) – The Cavite provincial government capped off the celebration of this year’s women’s month with a day full of activities in honor of the remarkable role of women in society.
The Cavite Gender and Development Focal Point System and the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office spearheaded the celebration held on March 29 at the provincial gymnasium.
The program offered various medical services and activities for all women participants such as eye and general check-ups, breast examinations, health risk assessment and nutrition counseling, family planning services, HIV counseling and testing, HPV vaccination, and oral prophylaxis.
Vice Governor Athena Bryana Tolentino who graced the event also presented the Provincial Gender and Development (GAD) Code to enlighten the public on the programs and projects of the provincial government geared towards empowering women.
In closing, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office head Ms. Felipa Servañez acknowledged the efforts of the people behind the successful Women’s Month celebration.
“Tunay pong di matatawaran ang papel ng ating mga kababaihan sa lipunan. Kaya salamat po sa inyong angking katapangan, pagpupunyagi sa sakripisyo para sa aming lahat,” said Servañez.
The event which carried the theme “We for gender equality and inclusive society” aimed to continuously support the promotion of gender equality and women empowerment towards the goal of a harmonious and fair society. (Ruel Francisco, PIA-Cavite with reports from PICAD)
