CAVITEX toll collection suspended from July 1-30 — PBBM

MANILA — Starting Monday, July 1, 2024, toll collection activities via Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and cash transactions are temporarily suspended until July 30, according to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

President Marcos said on his official X account (formerly Twitter) that the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) approved the recommendation of the Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA) to suspend toll collection activities from July 1 to July 30, 2024.

The TRB is composed of the Department of Transportation (DOTr), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Department of Finance (DOF), National Economic Development Authority (NEDA), and the private sector.

“Inaprubahan na ng Toll Regulatory Board na binubuo ng DOTr, DPWH, DOF, NEDA at pribadong sektor ang rekomendasyon na suspendihin ang pangungulekta ng toll – RFID at cash – sa lahat ng bahagi ng CAVITEX simula Hulyo 1 hanggang Hulyo 30 nitong taon,” President Marcos said.

The President made the announcement Thursday afternoon on his official X account @bongbongmarcos.

“Nagpapasalamat tayo sa TRB sa kanilang agarang aksyon sa rekomendasyon na ito ng PRA. Nagpapasalamat din tayo sa MVP Group sa pagsuporta sa panukalang ito,” he added.

In a two-page resolution, the TRB decided to temporarily suspend collection of toll fees after President Marcos mentioned the proposed 30-day toll holiday in his speech during the inauguration of MCTEP-C5 Link, Segment 2 (R1 Expressway to Sucat Road, Parañaque).

The resolution was approved by TRB on June 27 and signed by Undersecretary Reinier Paul Yebra, Permanent Alternate Chairman, DOTr; Undersecretary Maria Catalina Cabral, Alternate Member, DPWH; Undersecretary Catherin Fong, Alternate Member, DOF; and Assistant Secretary Jonathan Uy, Alternate Member, NEDA.

Lawyer Rhouan Loseriaga, a member from the private sector, also signed the resolution. (PND)
