PIDIGAN, Abra (PIA) — The Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) continues to urge cooperatives in the province to accomplish requirements and deficiencies to secure Certificates of Compliance from the CDA.
“Para sa ating mga cooperatives, para sa mga hindi pa nakapag-comply, please find time na makapag-comply po tayo sa ating mga requirements particularly doon sa submission of reports,” CDA-Abra Head Julio Decaleng stressed during the Provincial Cooperative Month celebration in Pidigan on October 17-18, 2024.
He said that cooperatives who complied with the requirements of the law are issued certificates of compliance which they can use to avail of incentives and privileges, secure permits and licenses, and avail of financial assistance among others.
Decaleng also shared that of the 146 cooperatives in the province, 59 are compliant cooperatives, 26 are considered non-compliant although they may still be operating, and the rest are under liquidation, dissolution and eventual cancellation.
“Sa mga naka-comply pero deficient, tignan po natin yun yung mga deficiencies and comply para mabigyan po tayo ng certificate of compliance. Para naman po doon sa mga hindi nakapag-comply, pwede po tayong mag-avail sa mga services ng CDA katulad ng merger and consolidation,” he said.
Decaleng explained that at least three small and micro cooperatives who opt to merge or consolidate will be given P500,000 incentive to augment operating capital.
He clarified that consolidation or merger is only applicable to small and micro cooperatives. Cooperatives under dissolution and cancellation are not also qualified for consolidation.
He also shared other programs to promote collaboration among cooperatives.
“We also have the Koop Kapatid Program wherein we have partner cooperatives which are large or medium cooperatives na tutulong sa ating mga small cooperatives,” he said.
The Koop Kapatid Program aims to provide technical, financial, and other assistance to improve the management, governance, and operations of small or micro cooperatives in partnership with successful cooperatives.
Meanwhile, Sangguniang Panlalawigan Committee on Cooperatives Chairperson Patrocinio Abaya highlighted the vital role of cooperatives towards development and nation building.
“Cooperatives are inspirations of teamwork, demonstrating that by working together, we achieve more than we can alone, indeed a future for all of us,” he said. (JJPM, PIA-CAR, Abra)
