Beneath the twinkling lights of Malacañang Palace, a sea of laughter, music, and heartfelt expressions filled the air during an unforgettable evening dedicated to the country’s modern-day heroes—the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

The atmosphere was electric, a blend of pride and gratitude as President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. expressed his government’s appreciation and unwavering support for OFWs in a video message played during the concert.

The event, aptly named Konsyerto sa Palasyo, serves not only as a celebration but as a solemn acknowledgment of the sacrifices made by OFWs who often leave the comforts of home in their quest for better opportunities.

He said the concert was a tribute to OFWs who continue to help the Philippine economy.

“Ngayong gabi, nawa’y ang alay namin na musika at saya ay makapagbigay sa inyo ng ligaya at kaunting pahinga. Magsilbi rin nawa ito bilang isang paalala na bilang magkakaisang lahi, sama-sama tayong naglalakbay tungo sa isang mas progresibo at mas maliwanag na Bagong Pilipinas,” the President said in his message.

His words encapsulated the nation’s appreciation, recognizing that OFWs are crucial in driving economic growth while maintaining familial bonds from thousands of miles away.

The Chief Executive also shared that he often receives high praises for Filipino workers during his travels abroad—a recognition that makes him “truly proud to be a Filipino.”

“Kayo ang patunay na ang mga Pilipino ay kayang-kayang makipagsabayan sa ibang lahi saan mang sulok ng mundo, dahil sa inyong disiplina, tapang, at malasakit sa bayan,” the President said.

President Marcos highlights OFWs’ impact on their immediate families and the larger Filipino community during his address.

“Isa kayo sa mga dahilan sa pag-unlad ng ating bayan,” he declared, reminding the audience of the pivotal role they play in the country’s progress.

His proud assertion reminded everyone that beyond remittances, OFWs’ hard work and values inspire generations of Filipinos to aspire for greatness, no matter the location.

Performances from renowned Filipino artists enhanced the celebration, and their music was a tribute to the indomitable spirit of the OFWs.

The President reassured OFWs and their families of the government’s commitment to supporting and protecting their rights and welfare.

“Makakaasa kayo na laging nandidito ang pamahalaan upang protektahan, alagaan, at itaguyod ang kapakanan ninyo at ng mga pamilya ninyo,” he said, reinforcing the promise of unwavering support that many OFWs long to hear.

For the attendees, the Konsyerto sa Palasyo could be more than a musical celebration; it was a powerful affirmation of their contributions and sacrifices.

In a world where the lives of OFWs often go unnoticed, the concert for OFWs illuminated their struggle and resilience, solidifying their place as the backbone of the Filipino nation.
