SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA) — The Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) – Belison recently conducted a re-orientation/briefing on environmental laws to the barangay officials of Bugasong, Antique.
CENR Officer Forester Louie Laud emphasized the need for the barangay officials to get orientation and be knowledgeable about environmental laws as they work in the frontline implementing these laws.
Laud discussed the salient features of the Wildlife Act (RA 9147), Chainsaw Act (RA 9175), Forestry of the Philippines, and Foreshore Areas Management, among other laws relevant to protecting and conserving the environment.
Department of Environment and Natural Resources – CENRO Belison personnel also discussed the penalties for violating the said laws so that the barangay officials could readily echo these to their constituents.
Bugasong Mayor John Lloyd Maguad M. Pacete lauded this initiative of CENRO Belison in partnership with the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO)- Bugasong.
He likewise reminded the barangay officials to be vigilant and take action to protect and preserve the natural resources.
Pacete also expressed support for the protection of “Dulungan” being declared a provincial bird and believed to have a habitation in the uplands of Bugasong.
As MENRO, Domingo Lavega presented the compliance level of the Municipality of Bugasong to the Solid Waste Management Act as he urged everyone to support the implementation of this law. (AGP/PSM/MIO BUGASONG/PIA Antique)
