BATANGAS CITY (PIA) – Employees of local government units and national government agencies, civil society organizations, and private sector join forces to walk for a cause in Batangas with the aim of providing projects focusing on educational development of the youth, particularly for out-of-school youths (OSY).

The Alay Lakad Foundation Inc.,-Batangas Chapter held the Walk for A Cause in Batangas City with the theme, “Ituloy ang Lakad para sa Kabataan”. The program led to a series of other events, according to the organizers, to reach a certain amount of money which will then be donated to establish educational programs for the OSYs.

For Dr. Tirso Ronquillo, President of ALFI Batangas Chapter, their organization is committed with the goal of providing a better life for the Batangueño youth.

The COVID-19 pandemic has led the tradition of Alay Lakad in the city to be postponed for three years, but Ronquillo thanked those who participated and extended their help in making this year’s endeavor a success.

“Kahit dumaan sa pandemya ang bawat opisyal ng ALFI Batangas ay patuloy at masigasig na gumaganap sa kanilang tungkulin. Nais kong magpasalamat sa lahat ng nakikibahagi at makikibahagi pa upang mas lalong matulungan ang mga grantees ng programang ito”, he adds.

As a symbol of appreciation to the help of the organization to the educational initiatives of the province, the Batangas provincial government donated P500,000 to ALFI Batangas to better carry out their projects.

Mataasnakahoy Vice Mayor Jay Ilagan who participated in the Alay Lakad also donated P300,000 to the organization as a show of support to ALFI.

Batangas Governor Hermilando Mandanas thanked those who took part in the event and shared some of the projects of his administration for the out-of-school youth.

“Maging ang pamahalaang panlalawigan ay may mga programang pang-edukasyon kung saan ang scholars ng lalawigan ay patuloy na dumarami ang bilang dahil isa ang edukasyon sa mga prayoridad na maisulong.” (BHABY P. DE CASTRO-PIA Batangas)
