CHED chief unveils IT lab, digital classroom of Mountain Province State U

TADIAN, Mountain Province (PIA) – towards the goal of ensuring quality education  at the Mountain Province State University (MPSU),  Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chairperson J. Prospero de Vera III  recently led the inauguration of IT laboratory and digital classroom at the school’s Tadian campus.

The MPSU Smart Campus project is  funded  under the CHED’s Institutional Development and Innovation Grants program.

” Sa lahat ng estudyante, mga kawani at faculty ng MPSU, meron na tayong state-of-the-art digital technology dito sa MPSU. Sigurado ang dekalidad at libreng edukasyon sa inyong Pamantasan” de Vera said.

Faculty and students  are grateful for the project  especially those taking engineering courses, citing how it can help them in their studies, and their future.

“Makakatulong po ng sobra sa electrical, civil  or  geodetic engineering courses since kailangan po namin  ng computers  which is yon po ang gagamitin namin  para sa pa grun ng Autocad which is used in general for electrical planning building and pagplot mo ng mga lands na pwedeng tayuan po ng buildings,” said Rick Joe Ennangen, a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering student.

Alice Balusdan, a civil engineering student, added; “Pag wala yung Autocad, we do the manual drawing which is mahirap sya. May mali-mali yung measurements which is pag sa design, there’s a big impact in the design and stability of the building. So nung nagkaroon ng Autocad, mas madali na sya, mas accurate for measurements and  don din matetest kung gaano kastable ang design mo.”

The MPSU Tadian Campus hosts the engineering courses of the university. The MPSU main campus is in the capital of Bontoc.

De Vera visited Mountain Province on  January 17-18, 2025 for the conferment and investiture ceremony of Dr. Edgar G. Cue as the first university president of the MPSU.

The CHED en Banc conferred on August 27, 2024  university status  to the Mountain Province State Polytechnic College, now the MPSU.

De Vera  also led the “Padyak sa Montañosa,” a cycling event that began in Nacagang, Sabangan and ended at MPSU’s Tadian campus. The event was attended by university officials, personnel, students, representatives from guest universities and agencies,  and  other stakeholders.

He also engaged  students in  the “Gag-gag-ay with Popoy”(meet and greet)  students had the opportunity to  him various questions, as he also shared his journey  as a student. He advised them not to falter when they fail  for   usually something better comes up after every failure.

De Vera also witnessed the rich arts and culture of the province through cultural performances. (JDP/CGS-PIA CAR, Mountain Province with MPSU)
