Children’s wellness center in Kalinga nears completion

CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga (PIA) — The children’s wellness center project in the province is nearing completion and is expected to open this year.

Vice Governor Jocel C. Baac disclosed that the tree-storey health facility at the Kalinga Provincial Hospital compound houses Children’s Ward, function hall and office space.

Construction of the project started in 2018 but was stalled.  Baac said the provincial government is bent on completing the facility and has allocated P50 million last year and another P45M this year to finish the project.

“This year, after the allocation for the third floor, the governor again proposed another 45 million for the second floor, so we hope to complete this [building] this year,” Baac said.

The second floor will be the children’s ward and wellness center while the third floor will serve as conference hall and Office of the Provincial Health Officer.

The ground floor is proposed for lease to enterprises related to health services like pharmacy and convenience store for additional fund source.

The project when completed will be the province’s premiere children health care facility. (JDP/LL-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
