LARENA, Siquijor (PIA) – The partner civil society organizations (CSOs) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) here pledged their support to help sustain the self-sufficiency of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries who have “graduated” from the program.
In a recent dialogue between DSWD and its partners national government agencies (NGAs), local government units (LGUs), and CSOS in Negros Oriental and Siquijor provinces, the CSOs committed to provide livelihood programs, skills training, scholarship, social advocacies, values formation, and spiritual enhancement for the former 4Ps beneficiaries.
For Siquijor, the CSO partners committed to provide their programs and services to 2,765 4Ps households in 2025 and 1,403 in 2026, with an initial funding amounting to P29,000.
The CSO partners in Siquijor include the following: Santa Barbara Katilingbanong Credit Cooperative, Siquijor Chamber of Commerce, National Auxiliary Chaplaincy Philippines, Inc. (NACPHIL), Regional DCCCO Multipurpose Cooperative Siquijor Branch, Carmelite College of Siquijor, Palawan Group of Companies, CebuanaLhuillier Insurance Solutions, Siquijor Rice Seed Growers Association, Siquijor Organic Farmers Practitioners Association, and the Provincial Agriculture and Fisheries Council.
According to Pastor Eulalio Bustillo from NACPHIL-Siquijor, they committed to help the beneficiaries after they saw the impact of the Family Development Sessions (FDS) attended by the 4Ps beneficiaries.
“They were on the verge of separation due to disagreements regarding their child. However, after attending the monthly Family Development Session, they have reconciled and managed to resolve their family issues. It is one reason our strong commitment to supporting the 4Ps remains because we need to strengthen the bond of the family and they should be able to surpass whatever challenges they encounter,” said Bustillo.
4Ps beneficiaries are required to attend the monthly FDS where parent-beneficiaries, usually the mother, attend to enhance their parenting capabilities and become more active citizens
In line with the government’s whole-of-society approach, the DSWD has consistently partnered with CSOs, NGOs, and community organizations to enhance the implementation of the 4Ps through their various programs, projects, and services. (RAC/PIA Siquijor)
