QUEZON CITY (PIA) — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported that it has already undertaken preparedness measures for the possible adverse impact of typhoon Marce (Yinxing).
PCG Commandant, Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan, earlier directed all his personnel to be on alert for typhoons.
The Coast Guard District North Eastern Luzon said it already mobilized its resources and personnel.
District Commander Commodore Gary Dale Gimotea underscored that this proactive measure is aimed at ensuring community safety through effective preparedness and response strategies.
He said all Coast Guard units in North Eastern Luzon are on heightened alert and on standby to address potential emergencies, given the unpredictable and severe weather conditions associated with tropical storms that can lead to flooding and landslides.
Their Deployable Response Group (DRG), he said, has undergone extensive training and is equipped with essential resources like communication devices, first aid kits, and rescue tools for immediate deployment in emergencies.
He stressed the importance of keeping these resources ready to mitigate the impacts of natural disasters.
He added that they also continuously collaborate with local government units (LGUs), noting that it is key to coordinating evacuation and rescue efforts and ensuring the safety of vulnerable populations through a community-focused disaster management approach.

District Commander Capt. Mark Larsen Mariano said their personnel in all ports throughout the region are on heightened alert status to immediately respond to any eventuality brought by the said tropical storm.
All essential first aid and necessary rescue equipment, along with radio communication devices, are fully operational and ready for use in case of any emergencies to ensure the safety and security of people within their area of responsibility, he said.
