BANGUED, Abra (PIA) – Abra Provincial Election Supervisory Atty. Nicasio Jacob reiterated the prohibited activities during the 2025 election period.
Jacob explained that along with the implementation of Commission on Election (COMELEC) checkpoints and gun ban, some activities are also prohibited as the election period kicked-off on Sunday, January 12.
“Starting January 12, the prohibited activities are the use of public funds for social services and housing-related projects. Social services such as the AKAP ay bawal po iyan starting January 12,” he stressed.
The provincial poll official also shared that the transfer and detail of civil service officials and employees, except uniformed personnel of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, is also banned during the election period.
“Staring March 28, may dalawang naidagdag na bawal. These are the use of public funds for public works, ibig sabihin itong mga kalsada natin and mga bridges natin including the delivery of materials for public works; and the appointment and promotion of civil service officials and employees. By March 28, wala pong promotion, wala ding appointment. However, if there is an exemption from COMELEC then we can proceed with the promotion,” he added.
Jacob also presented key activities for the 2025 National and Local Elections that include the start of the campaign period for national candidates on February 11 while campaign period for local candidates will begin on March 28.
He reported that the initial deployment of poll workers and election paraphernalia for the final testing and sealing of Vote Counting Machine will be from May 2-12, 2025.
However, earlier schedules will be set for far-flung areas such as Barangay Talipugo in Lacub which will take a 20-hour walk.
Jacob said that the casting of votes will be on May 12, 2025 starting from 5:00am until 7:00pm.
“Kailangan nating mag-coordinate sa isa’t-isa para po iisa ang gagawin natin,” he appealed as he presented the reminders, guidelines, and calendar of activities for the 2025 National and Local Elections during the Provincial Joint Security Control Center command conference on January 10 at the Abra Police Provincial Office at Camp Juan Villamor, Calaba, Bangued.
