IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay (PIA) – The recent episode of Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas in Zamboanga Peninsula featured the Commission on Elections (Comelec), which highlighted its preparations for the upcoming national and local elections in May 2025.
Atty. Jan Christian Babiera, Zamboanga City’s election officer, outlined the region’s preparations to ensure the smooth conduct of the elections. He emphasized key guidelines and the “do’s and don’ts” designed to promote fair and safe elections for all voters.
One of their key activities is voter education sessions which includes informative sessions and demonstrations of the Automated Counting Machines (ACM) across the region. These initiatives aim to empower voters and help them understand the new voting technology.
Babiera called on voters to engage in the electoral process and familiarize themselves with the new voting machines.
“Participate in our ACM demonstration to observe how the machines work and gain confidence in our electoral system,” he said.

The demonstrations are designed to familiarize the public with the voting and counting process, ensuring that voters are well-informed and confident when casting their ballots in 2025.
By promoting transparency and public awareness, Comelec seeks to inspire active participation in the electoral process and reinforce the importance of each vote in shaping the nation’s future.
Exercise your right to suffrage, go out and vote in May 2025, and choose leaders based on their platforms, not just their popularity,” he concluded. (JPA/RBI/PIA9-Zamboanga Sibugay)
