ODIONGAN, Romblon — The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Romblon and the Romblon Police Provincial Office (PPO) have reported a generally peaceful and orderly conduct of the May 2025 National and Local Elections in the province.
According to Police Colonel Rexton Sawi, provincial director of the Romblon PPO, no major election-related incidents were recorded during the election period.
He highlighted the effectiveness of the security measures implemented by the police in partnership with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and other stakeholders.
COMELEC Romblon, led by Provincial Election Supervisor Ryan Santos, also expressed gratitude to all partner agencies and sectors that contributed to the successful implementation of the electoral process. These include the Department of Education (DepEd), AFP, PNP, PCG and local government units.
“Hindi po seasonal ang trabaho ng COMELEC. Ang isang eleksyon po, we need at least two years to prepare, so mahirap na preparasyon po ito. It was very long, it was very grueling, [and] it was very taxing to all of us,” he said.
He further emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration in safeguarding the integrity of the election process.
The COMELEC and Romblon PPO both commended the voters of Romblon for their discipline and active participation in choosing their local and national leaders. (PJF/PIA MIMAROPA-ROMBLON)
