CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) — The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) MIMAROPA recently conducted a demonstration on the use of the new automated counting machines (ACM) in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan as part of the voters’ education campaign for the May 2025 national and local elections.
Regional Election Director Gloria Ramos-Petallo said during the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Mimaropa on November 5 that the demonstration aims to raise public awareness of the new machines.
Petallo added that they will also conduct the ACM demonstration in every barangay in the region before the elections.
“Although our office is coordinating with the field offices already for their proposed schedule, our target is from the first week of December until the last week of January,” she said.
The ACMs are expected to be deployed across all voting precincts in the region as part of COMELEC’s efforts to modernize the country’s electoral system. (ALG/PIA-Oriental Mindoro)
