DAVAO CITY—The Commission on Election in Davao Region has started removing campaign posters not in their designated poster areas as the nationwide Operation Baklas (operation removal) has started on March 28.
“Ubay-ubay pud among nakuha, for region 11 daghan jud especially in Carmen, Davao del Norte ang Carmen man gud along the highway Makita na daghan kaayo posters na gipangbutang diha sa highway,” says lawyer Gay Enumerables, the assistant regional director of Comelec in Davao Region.
(We have removed many, for region 11 there are really many, especially in Carmen Davao del Norte which is along the highway, you can see there are many posters along the highway.)
Common violations during the Operation Baklas included posters not in designated areas like in fences, posts along highways and roads; another common violation are those oversized posters.
Posters exceeding 2×3 feet will be included in the removal.
“Even if these posters are in the designated common poster area, if it is oversized we will be removing it,” Enumerables said.
She noticed however that the number of illegal posters are lesser compared to previous elections.
“We started operation baklas February 11, the start of the campaign for national positions although marami pa rin (there are still many) but it is not that much compared to the previous elections. (PIA/RGA)
