Comelec Tacloban introduces new features of voting machine to school officials

TACLOBAN CITY (PIA) – The Commission on Elections in Tacloban City through Atty. Ramon Dadulla Jr. demonstrated to school heads and district supervisors the features of the new Automated Voting Machine (ACM) that will enhance accessibility and improve voting process.

The ACM is a stand-alone machine that is designed to function with a 14-hour battery life with six light bar indicators and without the need of electrical outlet or other cable wires.

Voters can immediately scan their ballots unto the feeder machine, equipped with an auto-align feature to prevent paper jam of the ballot inside and an auto-built compartment for the voters’ receipt.

The new ballot paper has a weight of 95 grams per square meter with precinct-specific marks to assure its high quality of stock and security.

By the end of the voting process, the machine automatically transmits all results together to seven servers such as the Municipalities, Cities, and District Board of Canvassers Server, Central Server, Citizens Arm 1 and 2 Servers, Dominant Majority and Minority Servers, and the Media Server.

“’Yung makina po natin is very user-friendly and more efficient to operate. Sila po kasi ay mga kasagabay natin tuwing eleksyon, kaya dapat maipakilala na sa kanila ang mga bagong kagamitan,” said Dadulla Jr., Tacloban City election officer.
