COMELEC wants enhanced voting experience for May 2025 polls

ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) – Commission on Elections Provincial Election Supervisor lawyer Salud Milagros Villanueva said that the poll body wanted to enhance the whole voting experience of the Capiceños for the May 2025 national and local elections.

This was underscored by the Comelec officer during a media briefing as part of the Provincial Joint Security Control Center launching last Nov. 14 at the Capiz Police Provincial Office in Camp Teodorico Apil in this city.

“First time we will implement on a nationwide scale the early voting hours from 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. for the senior citizens, Persons With Disability, and pregnant women registered voters,” she noted.

The Commission is also preparing for the conduct of mall voting for the registered voters of Barangay 10 in Roxas City at the Robinsons Place in Pueblo de Panay, here.

A simultaneous demonstration of the Automated Counting Machines will be conducted by the local COMELEC offices to familiarize the voters on the machine on Nov. 25 in major key cities and capital towns.

A roadshow of the ACMs in the communities and various groups will also be conducted until January this year.

Based on data, the province has 542,355 registered voters, 468 voting centers, 3,185 established precincts and 773 clustered precincts in 473 barangays.

The PJSCC launching was graced by Capiz police director Col. Albert Tapulao, 301st Infantry Brigade Deputy Commander Col. Manolito Montel, 12th Infantry Batallion commander Lt. Col. Vicel Jan Garsuta, Philippine Coast Guard – Capiz commander CDR Edison Diaz and COMELEC Roxas City Election Officer lawyer Rommel Benliro, among others.

The center will serve as a central hub in the coordination of security efforts among government agencies and law enforcement units.
