TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur – Some six micro rice retailers received P15,000 each as cash assistance from the national government for its compliance to the implementation of Executive Order No. 39, also known as the “Imposition of Mnadated Price Ceilings on Rice,” during its payout in Tandag City on September 14, 2023.
The provision of cash assistance is an effort of the government to assist micro rice retailers affected by the implementation of Executive Order No. 39, which stipulates price ceilings on regular and well-milled rice in the market, who were initially identified by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) accordingly.
DTI Provincial Director Romel Oribe revealed that based on the monitoring conducted on September 5 to 8, 2023, some six rice retailers in Surigao del Sur, comprising five from Tandag City and one from Bislig City, were compliant with the price ceiling of rice as mandated by EO 39.
Further, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Caraga revealed that a total of 30 micro-rice retailers from the provinces of Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Sur, and Surigao del Norte received the amount of P15,000 each, as cash assisatnce under the Economic Relief Subsidy (ERS) of the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) on September 14, 2023.
SLP-ERS is a collaborative efforts of the DSWD, DTI, and Department of Agriculture which served as response to the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. (NGPB, PIA-Surigao del Sur)
