Cordillera pools 65 nominees for the 2024 BAYANI Ka! Awards

BAGUIO CITY(PIA)– Recognizing the  invaluable contributions of individuals and organizations in the implementation of  community driven-development projects, and the attainment of a well- rounded community, the Department of Social Welfare and Development(DSWD) once again  presents  the BAYANI Ka! Awards.

The BAYANI Ka! Awards of the DSWD Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services(KALAHI-CIDSS) in partnership with the National Program Management Office,  is a knowledge management initiative that highlights the innovation and good practices of DSWD’s outstanding partners.

The panel of board of judges of this  awards convened on May 22  to deliberate on this  year’s  regional winners.

This year, the region pooled a total of 65 nominees for various categories.

The panel of board of judges of the 2024 BAYANI Ka! Awards convened on May 22, 2024 at the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office CAR to deliberate this year’s winners.

Nine entries  qualified for the best advocates each for Gender and Development,  and Environment Protection. The category for Improved Local Governance received 14 entries.

The Indigenous Peoples Welfare sector accepted  two nominees for Operations and Maintenance, and eight for Volunteerism.

Special awards will also be given to Exceptional Youth Volunteers with four entries, Exceptional Senior Citizen Volunteers with eight individual and organization entries, and Exceptional Person with Disability Volunteers with two nominees.

Nominees were evaluated  based  on  how they helped bridge community’s perceived future(Bisyon), promoted movements providing positive impact on the community(Aksyon), persuaded community members to participate in KALAHI-CIDSS activities(Yakag), exercised resident’s skills and service for the benefit of the community(Abilidad), sustained and promoted collective action in the community(Nakikiisa), and motivated people to continuously participate in actions (Integridad at Inspirasyon).

Regional winners for each category will receive a plaque or certificate of recognition, and incentive of P10,000.00 for first place; P8,000.00 for second place, and P5,000.00 for third place.

Regional winners will be awarded in July 2024,  and national winners in August.(JDP/CVBT-PIA CAR)
