CSC to honor outstanding public servants

The Civil Service Commission (CSC) will recognize the contributions of dedicated government employees through the 2025 Honor Awards Program, an annual initiative that celebrates excellence in public service and fosters a culture of integrity, innovation and commitment among civil servants nationwide.

Each year, the CSC highlights public servants—individuals or groups—whose dedication, integrity and innovation have transformed lives and communities.

A primary goal of the program is to inspire the next generation of civil servants. By showcasing successful individuals and teams, the program reinforces that excellence in public service is attainable and commendable. Awardees often serve as role models, influencing peers and future leaders to prioritize integrity, innovation and public service.

Award categories, including the Dangal ng Bayan Award, CSC Pagasa Award and Lingkod Bayan Award, recognize a range of contributions—from exemplary conduct and outstanding innovations to initiatives that positively impact communities.

“Anybody can be nominated,” Assistant Commissioner Judith A. Dongallo-Chicano said during an interview on “Impormasyon at Aksyon.” “National government agencies, state universities and colleges, government-owned or controlled corporations, local government units, and even elected barangay officials—all can be nominated as long as they have an outstanding accomplishment.”

Since its inception, the program has consistently recognized individuals and groups who exceed their duties to serve the Filipino people.

Dongallo-Chicano cited the late Jesse Robredo, former Department of the Interior and Local Government secretary, and Atty. Persida V. Rueda-Acosta as notable awardees.

The CSC encourages peers and supervisors to nominate deserving candidates who exemplify dedication and efficiency by March 31, 2025. Detailed submission guidelines ensure fair and thorough evaluations.

Individual awardees will receive P200,000. Group awardees, with a maximum of five members, will receive P100,000 each. Awardees will also receive automatic promotion to the next higher position or, if unavailable, a salary increase.

“Impormasyon at Aksyon” host Emver Cortez, Philippine Information Agency-National Capital Region chief, said the program should not discourage public servants. Instead, he urged them to “do what you can with the best of our abilities and always remember the reason why you joined the government workforce.”
