CSC warns public vs individuals pretending to be employees

QUEZON CITY — The Civil Service Commission (CSC) warned the public about unscrupulous parties pretending to be officials and employees of the institution, soliciting favors, and disseminating false information.

CSC Chairperson Karlo Nograles advised stakeholders to be wary of messages, emails, or phone calls from individuals posing as CSC employees requesting for sensitive information or documents.

“May mga natanggap kaming reports na may nagpapanggap na mga kawani ng CSC upang makahingi ng impormasyon, pera, o pabor mula sa mga ahensya ng pamahalaan at maging sa publiko. We are reminding the public to be vigilant by directly verifying the authenticity of the transaction from the CSC Regional or Field Office concerned,” said Chairperson Nograles.

The CSC previously reminded the public that no individual or entity was given permission to use its name and logo, including the old CSC emblems, for any activity or online promotion, such as but not limited to solicitation, recruitment, production of materials, and enrollment to review classes.

However, the CSC continued to receive reports of unscrupulous individuals using the name of its officials and employees in harassing stakeholders and civil servants from other government agencies.

“We would also like to warn individuals that usurpation of authority or falsely representing to be an officer, agent or representative of any department or agency of the Philippine Government is a violation under Article 177 of the Revised Penal Code. The CSC is ready to take action against violators found guilty of this crime as their action undermines the integrity of the agency,” warned Chairperson Nograles.

The directory of CSC officials and contact details of all offices may be accessed at the CSC website at www.csc.gov.ph. The CSC also maintains only one official account on FacebookInstagramYouTube, and TikTok, and each CSC Regional Office manages just one Page.

The public is advised to immediately report any encounter with individuals or group claiming to represent the agency to the CSC’s Contact Center ng Bayan at 0908-881-6565. (CSC)
