Cyber Kaalaman: Alamin at Protektahan! A Campaign to empower Filipino netizens for a safer online community

QUEZON CITY —  The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) is proud to launch Cyber Kaalaman: Alamin at Protektahan!, an initiative aimed at empowering Filipino netizens to actively contribute to a safer and more secure online environment. The campaign is designed to raise awareness on cybersecurity and promote digital responsibility through a series of projects and activities that focus on key aspects of online safety.

Cyber Kaalaman: Alamin at Protektahan! includes a key project called Cyber Bantay: Verify. Report. Protect., which offers actionable steps for individuals to ensure their online safety and combat cyber threats effectively.

The official launch of this initiative will take place on December 6, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Auditorium, Visayas Avenue, Quezon City. The event will feature:

  • A keynote address by officials from the DICT and PIA
  • The launch of the Cyber Kaalaman: Alamin at Protektahan! campaign, along with the Cyber Bantay: Verify. Report. Protect. project
  • Messages and a photo opportunity with social media and agency representatives

Key Goals of the Cyber Bantay Campaign:

  1. Promote Verification of Social Media Accounts

o Objective: Encourage netizens to check for verified logos (Meta, YouTube,

TikTok) to confirm the legitimacy of sources and prevent misinformation.

o Message: “Bago mag-share, siguraduhing verified!”

  1. Encourage Reporting of Cyber Threats

o Objective: Educate individuals on the importance of reporting scams, hacking attempts, and suspicious activities to help address and prevent cyber incidents.

o Message: “I-report ang mga pekeng account, online scam, banta, hacking, at kahina-hinalang aktibidad.”

  1. Foster Online Protection

o Objective: Promote proactive practices like verifying sources and reporting threats to reduce misinformation, online harm, and scams.

o Message: “Maging Cyber Bantay. Sama-sama nating buuin ang mas ligtas na online community!”

Future Initiatives
As part of its ongoing efforts to improve cybersecurity awareness, Cyber Kaalaman will introduce additional projects that tackle various challenges in the digital landscape. These initiatives aim to strengthen the cybersecurity posture of Filipino netizens and promote a culture of digital responsibility.
