MUTIA, Zamboanga del Norte (PIA) – Five barangays in the municipality of Mutia, this province, now have access to clean and safe drinking water through a newly completed Potable Water System (PWS) project.
Implemented by the Department of Agriculture – Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP), the construction and improvement of the Barangay Alvenda-Buenasuerte-Tinglan-San Miguel-Totongon Level 2 PWS cost nearly P48 million.

San Miguel Barangay Captain Santos Ocado expressed his gratitude for the project, highlighting its impact on the community’s daily lives.
“Dako kayo kog pasalamat sa DA-PRDP kay timing nga gipaagas na pista sa among barangay. Kami ang unang nakapahimulos sa kusog kaayo nga tubig, Praise the Lord,” Ocado states.
(We are very thankful to the DA-PRDP because in time the tap stands were opened for service, it was our barangay fiesta. We were the first users of the enormous water. Praise the Lord!)
This project is funded by the DA-PRDP Second Additional Financing and the European Union, in partnership with the Local Government of Mutia, and will serve a total of 992 households.
Overall, the DA-PRDP has funded eight PWS projects across the Zamboanga Peninsula, amounting to P453 million and benefiting 7,704 households of farmers and fisherfolk. (EDT/CCP/PIA9 with reports and photos from the DA- Philippine Rural Development Project)
